And
God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was
very good. (Genesis 1:31)
Then when God had finished creating
all things, He stopped from His work to look over all that
He had made. And He saw that everything He had made was
good, indeed very good. All the lands, people, animals,
the skies, even the stars above and the heavenly beingseverythingwas
perfect and wonderful. Man and woman, whom God had brought
into being from the dust of the ground and whom He made
to be like Himself, were lovingly placed by Him as rulers
over the earth. They were to govern in fairness, honoring
God in all that they did. And under their care, even the
animals lived in peace, both amongst themselves and with
mankind. All this gave God great delight. For there was
no evil, no disease, and no hurt anywhere in His world,
only goodness.
The
LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger,
and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all; and His tender
mercies are over all His works. (Psalms 145:8-9)
Now God Himself is very good, always
doing what is right. When He makes a decision, it is always
fair. And when He says something, it is completely true.
He never tempts people to think or act wickedly, but instead
He encourages them to do what is right.
God hears those who call out to Him
for help. He gives hope to those who are sad or discouraged.
And He protects those who depend on Him. In His kindness,
He continually takes care of all the living things He has
created, even though many of them are unthankful.
