Jesus—The Fountain of Life

Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:14)

When Jesus of Nazareth ministered on earth, some 2000 years ago, He said He would give living water to anyone who was thirsty for it. Now Jesus didn't mean the water that we put in a glass and drink; He was speaking about spiritual water. He taught that, just as our bodies get thirsty and need water, so our inner person—our soul—gets thirsty too. It needs the refreshment of God's spiritual water to make it alive and healthy.

All those who drink this spiritual water will receive this refreshment from God Himself. They will experience His love, His peace, and His care. They will be forgiven and cleansed from all the evil they have ever done. And—greatest of all—they will be given life forever, yes, forever! This is what the message of Jesus—the Good News—is all about: God’s offer of the water of life.

How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard?.... (Romans10:14)

But if you want to drink this living water that Jesus offers, you must first understand His message. You need to know what His message says about God—who He is and what He has done. You need to know what His message says about the world—how it got to be the way it is, and what God is doing about it. And you need to know what His message says about you—what God really thinks about you and why He wants to give you His living water.

And let him that is thirsty come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (Revelation 22:17c)

As you'll find out through the seven jewels, from the very beginning God has had a plan for the world. He wanted to love and be loved by those whom He made to be like Himself—man and woman. It was their choice to either love and obey the One who had given them life, or to reject Him. Sadly, they chose to reject Him, and ended up earning eternal death—they and all their descendents.

But since that time, God has gone to great efforts to provide a way of escape for mankind, a way out of sin and eternal death. This is the message of Jesus, the Good News, that through Jesus’ death for sin, God offers forgiveness and life to all who truly desire it. Those who turn to God, putting their faith in Jesus and rejecting the path of sin, will have their guilt washed away and will be given a new and eternal life. And the best thing of all is that anyone who wishes to receive this may indeed receive it! It doesn't matter what you've been through or what your life is like right now; if you're thirsty, you are welcome at the Fountain.
